For soft-ground field reclaiming, a Polaris Ranger on tracks with a Wessex AFR160 flail mower is hard to beat. The tracked Ranger delivers extremely low ground pressure and superior traction, allowing it to work in wet meadows, rush-infested pasture, peatland and soft headlands where conventional tractors can cause rutting or become stuck. The 1.6m Wessex AFR160 flail is built to tackle dense grass, rushes, brambles, weeds and light scrub, leaving a finely mulched finish that encourages pasture recovery. With its compact size, excellent manoeuvrability, 4WD capability and high power-to-weight ratio, the Ranger can access areas larger machinery cannot, including narrow gateways and awkward field corners. Compared with a tractor-mounted topper, this setup causes less compaction, extends the working season in wet conditions, reduces operating costs and provides a faster, cleaner, more efficient solution for restoring neglected land.
